Victoria Klewin and The TrueTones
Formed in 2008, Victoria Klewin and The TrueTones play a mixture of original material and well-chosen covers. With their roots firmly in the fertile ground that is soul, blues, jazz and gospel, there is undoubtedly an element of nostalgia at work here, but also a fresh and vibrant passion for conveying the energy and emotion that runs through such music. Since the beginning, the band have been working hard and playing at various venues in the South West and elsewhere. They continue to impress and uplift audiences wherever they go. Their debut EP is expected to be released independently during April 2011.
"The minimalism of the musical accompaniment means that there is nothing to hide behind, nor does she need it, a voice that blends ice cool classic jazz vocals with a warmth and accessibility is the selling point here and the less that gets in the way the better. And it is a classic vocal being delivered here, driven through a purity and adherence to what made this style great in the first place rather than the experimentations and avant-garde stylings of the free jazz movements that somewhat alienated a lot of people.
Coleco is a Bristol-based dubstep producer. Extrapolating a lifetime of immersion in the sounds of rock, funk and world music has meant Coleco has a very unique approach to the core elements of electronica. Whilst the foundations of his production may rest in Dubstep, there is no way to classify him with any one genre. Dramatic, hypnotic melodies are strapped to explosive, intricate beatwork with a flair for the cinematic.
A collaborative album by Coleco and featuring Victoria is coming out on the independent label Soul Motive later in 2011. Watch this space!
